Aside from graphic design, I love all things art and have been described as an artist by family and friends since I could hold a crayon. As a toddler, my parents had to pull me out of montessori pre-school because I refused to leave the arts & crafts corner. I truly don’t believe I’ve changed much since then, at least in terms of interests — and the baby face. I was quite a shy kid, but I spent my teenage years working at various restaurants around Grand Rapids, where I developed the mastery of people skills. In high school, I panicked at the thought of choosing a solid career path because I was deathly afraid of being stuck in a non-creative field. My dad was a web designer for many years, so he convinced me to take a graphic design class my senior year. I fell in love with the clean lines as well as the marketing aspect. Without my teachers, professors, and other mentors, I don’t believe I’d be as solidified and confident in my abilities and endeavors. I have and will never stray from my morals, but I also know how influenced I am as a designer through the world around me. I’ve been taking inspiration my whole life, usually without realizing it. From inspecting every single label on the food I eat throughout the day, to silently judging a crappy restaurant logo as I’m passing by, I couldn’t escape the mind of a graphic designer if I tried. I am beyond excited to jump into my vocation after graduating, and I thank you immensely for possibly being apart of that journey!
